Privacy policy

Last updated 30 May 2026

Never Too Late To Skate("NTLTS", "we", "us") runs the Never Too Late To Skate website for adult skaters in the UK. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and your rights under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

Who is responsible

Data controller: Never Too Late To Skate
Privacy contact: hello@nevertoolatetoskate.co.uk

What we collect

  • Account data — email, display name, username, password (stored securely by our auth provider), optional profile details you add.
  • Content you submit — reviews, photos, venue suggestions, trust confirmations, reports, and moderation-related records.
  • Usage data — only if you accept analytics cookies: pages visited and an anonymous visitor ID. We do not store your IP address in our analytics table.
  • Technical data — standard server and security logs via our hosts (e.g. request metadata) as needed to run and protect the site.
  • Skate Circle — connection requests, park check-ins you create (park name and planned session times you enter), visibility settings, and parks visited. We do not collect GPS coordinates, background location, or live device tracking for Skate Circle — now or as a planned feature.

Skate Circle & location

Skate Circle check-ins record the skatepark you choosefrom our directory, when you say you are (or were) there, and how long you plan to stay. That is not the same as tracking your phone on a map. We do not use GPS for Skate Circle check-ins, we do not show your live position to other users, and we will not add GPS-based check-ins, live skater maps, or “skaters near me” discovery. Map and “near me” features elsewhere on NTLTS (e.g. finding skateparks) are separate and optional — they do not feed Skate Circle activity to your connections.

Lawful bases

  • Contract — to create and run your account, save parks, and provide features you sign up for.
  • Legitimate interests — to secure the site, prevent abuse, and improve listings (balanced against your rights).
  • Consent — for optional analytics cookies (see our Cookie policy).
  • Legal obligation — where we must comply with law or valid requests from authorities.

How we use your data

To operate accounts, show community content, moderate submissions, improve NTLTS, and communicate with you about your account or contributions. We do not sell your personal data.

Processors & third parties

We use trusted providers who process data on our instructions:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, file storage (EU/US hosting per their terms).
  • Vercel — website hosting.
  • Mapbox — interactive maps when you use map features.
  • Google — optional sign-in (if enabled) and external map links you choose to open.
  • Email providers — account and notification emails (e.g. Supabase / Brevo / Resend as configured).

Each provider has its own privacy policy. Where data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards offered by those providers.

Retention

  • Account data — while your account is active, then deleted or anonymised after closure.
  • Reviews and public content — until removed by you, us, or no longer needed for the service.
  • Analytics page views — aggregated over time; visitor IDs rotate with cookie lifetime (up to 24 months).
  • Server logs — limited period for security and troubleshooting.

Your rights

You may have the right to:

  • Access a copy of your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your data (subject to legal exceptions)
  • Restrict or object to certain processing
  • Data portability where applicable
  • Withdraw consent for analytics cookies at any time (clear cookies / use essential only)

To exercise these rights, email hello@nevertoolatetoskate.co.uk. We aim to respond within one month.

You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Children

NTLTS is aimed at adult skaters. The service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site where appropriate.
